Calling and Messaging
Messaging
Messages between ServeMobile users are delivered in real time through Twilio Conversations, a messaging platform operated by Twilio. Messages travel over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). ServeMobile messages are not end-to-end encrypted.
App-to-app calls
Calls between ServeMobile users use your internet connection and your device's microphone. You will be asked for microphone permission the first time you call.
Phone lines and E911
Some plans include a local US phone number. Serve Aurora requires an active, verified E911 emergency address on every line before it can make or receive calls. Keep your address current if you move.
Important limits
- App-to-app calls cannot reach 911. In an emergency, use a mobile phone or landline.
- Internet calling does not work without power or an internet connection.
- ServeMobile runs as a web app you add to your home screen. Incoming calls ring only while the app is open. They do not ring when the app is fully closed or the phone is locked. Native iPhone and Android apps with background ringing are planned.
